According to Reuters, China hopes to dominate the high-end market for new energy generation. In recent years, the new energy generation industry has rapidly developed and grown, becoming one of the world's major growth markets.

According to reports, China plans to implement the "Photovoltaic Leader Plan", which will promote the development of the entire solar photovoltaic power generation industry and the mass market for high-performance solar photovoltaic cells. At present, high-performance new energy batteries are mainly used in high-tech products such as satellites.

The implementation of the "Photovoltaic Leader Plan" in China will make the price of high-performance new energy batteries "more accessible", which is likely to promote further development of the new energy power generation industry. At the same time, it will also create considerable competitive pressure on other internationally renowned new energy battery manufacturers, such as CSI Astor, REC Solar, Sharp, etc.

According to the 2017 "Photovoltaic Leader Plan", the China Energy Administration stated that China plans to increase its installed capacity by 8 to 10 gigawatts on top of the existing 80 gigawatts of new energy generation capacity.

In the 2017 Global New Energy Generation Industry Report, Stanford University wrote, "This transformation will have a profound impact on the global new energy generation industry, and it is particularly noteworthy that this move will help China enter the forefront of countries committed to solar energy research and development

According to statistics released by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IREA) based in Abu Dhabi, the cumulative installed capacity of new energy generation worldwide has surged from 1 gigawatt in 2000 to about 300 gigawatts now, and this number may double by 2020.

The rapid growth of the global new energy generation industry largely relies on polycrystalline silicon solar cells. Although the photovoltaic energy conversion efficiency of polycrystalline silicon solar cells is not as good as that of monocrystalline silicon solar cells, their price is lower, currently priced at less than 50 cents/watt (about 3.3 yuan/watt).

However, as China increases the production of monocrystalline silicon solar cells, the price gap between the two types of cells is gradually narrowing. Longi Green Energy Technology Co., Ltd. is one of the major new energy battery manufacturers in China. The head of the company's quality management department stated that they are increasing their investment in monocrystalline silicon solar cells, and "the market share of monocrystalline silicon solar cells can significantly increase from the current 1/5 to over 50%".
